Our client houses a mix of bungalows and apartments for people who need extra care to continue to live independently. About the role
They currently have an exciting opportunity for a Kitchen Assistant to join their busy but friendly team on a part time basis for 25 hours per week. The hours will include weekend working but do not include evenings or late nights - a bonus for anyone looking for a good work/life balance! Full training will be provided.
You will be involved in the following;

Assisting the chefs to plate meals and prepare food trolleys.
*
Preparing basic meals such as sandwiches, salads and cold desserts.
*
Preparing the dining room for a great meal service and serving food and drinks to residents and customers.
*
Carrying out cleaning duties to a high standard within the kitchen and dining area.
*
Acting as \'Front of House\', ensuring that meals run smoothly, providing a hosting service before and after meals.
*
Having an awareness of and understanding of individuals special dietary needs.
About you
The ideal candidate will:
*
Be highly customer focussed.
*
Have the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and understand basic hygiene requirements in a catering environment
*
Good communications skills
*
Previous experience from within the catering industry or customer service roles preferred but not essential.
*
Hold a Level 1 NVQ in catering, or equivalent, or be prepared to work towards one
You may on occasion be asked to cover at other schemes in Northallerton so a flexible approach is required along with the willingness to work over 7 days on a rota system.
