P/T Ad Hoc Pay & Rewards Specialist

Do you have experience of providing advice and guidance for Pay & Reward policy?

Have you developed pay & reward models within a large complex organisation?

Do you have experience of public sector pay processes?

UKAEA is a R&D nuclear fusion research laboratory funded in part by the UK government through the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). As a public sector organisation our pay arrangements are governed by the Civil Service Pay Remit.
The workload of the Pay and Reward team continues to outpace the capacity within the team and additional expertise in pay modelling and supporting the case for changes to our complex pay structure is required from time to time.
You\'ll be instrumental in helping UKAEA to make cases to government for additional pay flexibility due to difficulties in recruiting and retaining staff in STEM disciplines. Pay modelling is required to predict costs and average earnings increases over multiple years which may include the impact of adding new grades, new competency related pay schemes, changes to pay scales, new market allowances etc. Benchmarking with external sources of pay data, obtaining and analysing turnover/ leaver reports, calculating productivity savings etc. is also required.
Presenting this data in a concise, visual format that can be easily understood by those who are not pay experts is an important aspect of the work.
You\'ll need:
Experience of compensation/ pay and reward including considerable experience of modelling pay scenarios.
Advanced Excel skills and ability to obtain data from other data sources and import it into Excel.
Good grasp of the big picture of what we are trying to achieve through revising our pay systems
Attention to detail and drive to ensure data is correct
Ability to recognise when data may be inaccurate and to question and understand why a figure shows a particular trend.
Ability to present data visually to maximise impact/ tell a complex story simply.
Ability to present data verbally and to explain it as simply as possible.
Patience and resilience when proposals may have to be re-worked several times.
Desirable: Public sector pay and reward experience including the Civil Service Pay Remit.

This role would suit a Pay & Reward consultant who is able to provide ad hoc support on a flexible part time basis as demand dictates.
This contract can be offered on either a PAYE or Umbrella company basis.
